Businessman pays £43,000 for Lancaster dream trip

AN AVIATION buff from Harpsden Bottom has paid £43,000 to fulfil his once-in-a-lifetime dream of flying a Lancaster bomber.

Matthew Munson, 34, will fly from Canada to England over four days in August in the Avro Lancaster Mk X, one of only two remaining airworthy Lancasters in the world.

The unique opportunity was put up for auction on eBay by the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, which owns the plane.

During the flight, the bomber will be teaming up with the Royal Air Force’s Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster.

It will be the first time the world’s last two airworthy Lancaster bombers have flown together and the last time the Avro Lancaster Mk X will make the journey over to England.
