Edible gardens support competition entry

EDIBLE gardens have been created in Sonning Common for residents to help themselves.

The Village Gardeners have installed two planters in Wood Lane, one filled with vegetables and the other with herbs. Labels explain what each plant is.

The planters are made from sustainable wood and wicker and were created as part of the village’s Britain in Bloom bid.

Chrissie Phillips-Tilbury, who set up the Village Gardeners group in 2010 with Jill Greenwood, said preparation for the competition was going well.

She said: “It’s a lot of work but it really focuses your mind on what you are going to do.
