Wildlife walkers step out

ABOUT 15 people attended the annual meeting of Henley Wildlife Group.

Members met at the bandstand in Mill Meadows before an evening nature walk, led by Sally Rankin who recently stepped down as chairman after 20 years.

Mayor Martin Akehurst, who attended, said: “Sally led a superb walk around Mill Meadows and I saw parts of Henley that I did not know existed.

“Four or five people said that they would love to become members of the group because they enjoyed the nature trail so much.”

The group looks after parts of Mill Meadows and the chalk bank in Valley Road and keeps an unofficial watch on Gillotts Corner Field and other green spaces in the town, making suggestions to the council on conservation.
