JOUSTING, juggling and archery were among the attractions at a medieval-themed summer fair in Shiplake.
About 1,500 people attended the event, which took place on the field next to Shiplake Primary School in Memorial Avenue.
The afternoon was organised by the school’s parent-teacher association in partnership with Shiplake Village Nursery. It raised almost £5,000 towards new sports and computer equipment.
It opened with a “wacky wheels” parade for which youngsters were encouraged to decorate their scooters and bikes with a medieval theme. Many dressed as knights on horseback while others decked out their bikes to look like chariots.
Primary school pupils performed medieval dances and drumming before youngsters from Henley’s Stageworks performing arts school showed off some modern routines.
