Rail travellers thanked for helping woman, 89, in fall

A WOMAN has used the Henley Standard to thank a group of kind-hearted rail travellers who helped her elderly mother after a fall.

Maureen Dougall, 67, was on a platform at Henley station with her mother Dorothy Camp, 89, when the accident happened on Saturday morning.

Mrs Camp accidentally caught her walking stick on a seat and fell. She was in shock and unable to get up again but about 12 people rushed to her aid.

Mrs Dougall, of Station Road, Henley, said: “Mum walks with a walking stick and is quite frail. We walked on to the platform and the train was there so we walked towards one of the front carriages and her walking stick got caught on a seat.

“She went over and pulled me down with her because our arms were linked. I must have shouted out quite loudly because people all came running and could see she was in distress.”
