Charity presentations end on a high note for choir

CHORISTERS in Sonning Common had a pleasant surprise during choir practice, when they were honoured with an award for their fundraising efforts.

Nottakwire has won the Oxfordshire Youth Community Partnership Award, which recognises organisations that support local youth clubs.

Andrea Tiganescu, a volunteer officer for Oxfordshire Youth, surprised the singing group with their award and a certificate during a practice session at the village hall on Friday. The timing could not have been better as the choir was in the middle of handing over a cheque to Club SC, the village youth club, as well as four other local good causes.

Margaret Moola, who co-founded the choir with Elaine Williams in 2010, said she had “no idea” they were going to win the award.

She said: “This is down to the support, energy, commitment and enthusiasm of the singing group, who are fantastic.
