Visitors impressed with blossoming community spirit

JUDGES have visited Watlington as the town attempts to take gold in the Thames and Chilterns in Bloom regional competition.

Kate Dagnall and Mike Gass took a tour of the town and surrounding area on Tuesday.

Terry Jackson, chairwoman of Watlington in Bloom, said: “We have met them and taken them on a tour around the town showing them some of the aspects of the work that Watlington in Bloom do and our interaction with the community.

“The main aim is to please the community and to try and get the community interested and involved. All our planting is sustainable and attractive to insects.”

Mrs Dagnall said: “It’s been lovely. That’s the beautiful thing about Britain in Bloom - it is a vehicle for bringing the community together. Mike and I are both impressed with what we’ve seen today.”
