Girls raise £2,000 for charity with village dog show

MORE than 40 owners and their pets competed at the first Britwell Salome dog show.

Classes included dog agility, waggiest tail, cutest dog, fancy dress and dog the judge would most like to take home. The prize for best in show went to Tally, a border terrier from Britwell Salome, and reserve best in show went to Vesta, from Nettlebed.

The show was organised by 12-year-old friends Jess McConkey and Nell Summerley, who both live in the village, with help from their mothers Susie McConkey and Louise Summerley and resident Geoff Whittaker. It was held at the McConkeys’ home.

The girls said: “It was a fantastic day. The weather was great and most of the dogs behaved themselves really well, even if the owners were a bit competitive!”

The event, which was followed by a barbecue, raised almost £2,000 for the village church and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
