Going for gold (again)

GORING is waiting to hear whether it has kept its regional gold title in the Britain in Bloom competition.

Two judges from the Thames and Chiltern region were given a two-hour tour of the village, which won the accolade for the first time last year.

Pete Thompson and Brian Burton were shown around by Goring Gap in Bloom chairwoman Stephanie Bridle, of Cleeve Road, and volunteer Judy Novell.

They began in Streatley before crossing the bridge where judges saw the newly-planted wild flowers at Goring lock.

The four then visited Help4Hedgehogs, a rescue charity run by Jill Kayley from her home in Thames Road.
