After floods, farmers celebrate big harvest

FARMERS in the Henley area have reaped bumper harvests thanks to the weather.

Yields of wheat and barley are well above average following the wet spring and the warm, sunny summer.

The cereal crops have grown exceptionally quickly, meaning farmers were able to harvest them much earlier than usual.

At Shiplake Farm, wheat production increased by about 15 per cent while barley was up by 10 per cent.

Owner Stephen Doble said this was pleasing after the bad start to the year when his low-lying land was affected by the floods.
