RESIDENTS of a Henley estate held a table-top sale in aid of a new table tennis table for children.
Clothes, books, cakes and toys were among items available at the sale, which was held at the scout hall in Greys Road and organised by the Gainsborough Residents Association. Almost £140 was raised.
The residents want the table tennis table in Makins recreation ground, which is owned by Henley Town Council. Association chairwoman Paula Isaac said a survey of residents showed they wanted more facilities for young people. With the skate park being closed down for the time being theres not really a great deal for the older kids to do, she said.
Mrs Isaac thanked Hot Gossip in Friday Street and the Sweet Vanilla Patisserie for providing cakes for the sale and added: People have said they would like another one.
The skate park has been closed by the council because it is unsafe. A fibreglass ramp has holes in it which its feared could cause injury.
