Couple relive honeymoon for their diamond anniversary

A COUPLE celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary with a trip to the site of their honeymoon 60 years ago.

Bill and Margaret White, of Plowden Way, Shiplake, met outside a cinema in 1950 and married four years later.

To mark their anniversary on Thursday last week, the couple returned to Bognor Regis, where they spent their honeymoon in a caravan.

Mrs White, 80, said: “We went to Bognor for our honeymoon and thought it would be nice to go back. Back in 1954, the caravan was very small and I had to make the bed just to get in or out! Luckily, we have a proper hotel this time.”

Mrs White was born in Reading Road, Henley, and went to Henley Grammar School. She then worked as a library assistant in the Reading branch of Boots.
