A BROOK in Benson which is susceptible to flooding will be cleared tomorrow (Saturday).
The work at Ewelme Brook will be carried out by a working party made up of residents of Brook Street helped by staff from the Environment Agency and Oxfordshire County Council’s drainage team.
It follows a public meeting earlier this month between residents and representatives of both authorities and South Oxfordshire District Council.
In the summer residents set up an action group because they were concerned about their homes being flooded when the brook bursts its banks. They argued that the Environment Agency should help them fulfil their duty as riparian owners to maintain the brook.
Mark Gray, who represents Benson on the county council, said: “Residents discussed riparian responsibilities, were shown a county council report on the state of the brook and heard from the Environment Agency about how they can help with a clear-up.
