Lessons learned from festival

THE first Goring and Streatley Festival raised £1,100 for a children’s charity.

A share of proceeds from the event, which ran from June 27 to July 6, has been given to the Starlight Foundation.

The charity, whose chief executive Neil Swan lives in Goring, grants the wishes of seriously ill youngsters.

The festival organisers, who are volunteers, said they had raised less than they had hoped but made enough to stage another festival next year.

They said they had learned from the experience this year and would begin preparations earlier. Future festivals were likely to be held over a four-day period as this was more sustainable.
