THE organiser of Watlington’s Lace Day has stepped down.
Wendy Jarvis, 70, made the announcement after overseeing the 20th annual event at Icknield Community College.
She said: “Lots of people were very sad when I said it was my last one but like all things sometimes it’s good to get some fresh blood in.
“If someone takes on organising it or if anyone’s interested I’ll give them all the support I can and I can make lace instead of running around!” More than 70 women took part in the latest day, making items like mats, collars and bookmarks. It raised £315 for the college and £140 for the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust.
Mrs Jarvis, who lives in Chinnor, said: “It’s a day when you all get together, make lace and generally have a nice day.”
