Care home marks 10th anniversary with extension

RESIDENTS and staff at a Watlington care home held a double celebration as they marked the opening of a new £240,000 extension and the home’s 10th anniversary.

Watlington and District Nursing Home is run by Sanctuary Care and opened its doors on July 23, 2004.

The Hill Road home, which stands on the site of the former Watlington and District Hospital, provides dementia, nursing and intermediate care for 60 residents.

About 100 people attended the celebration, including friends and family of residents and guests including Lord Camoys of Stonor and Rev Christopher Evans, the rector of Watlington.

They were served canapés and champagne and live music was provided by Janet Morgan and Tristan Pate. The home’s new orangery took nine months to complete, from planning to construction. It has both air conditioning and heating so can be used all-year round.
