Theatre man dies

THE secretary of the Kenton Theatre in Henley has died.

Georg Briner passed away peacefully at Sobell House, Oxford, on Tuesday night after a long illness.

He was first involved with the Kenton more than 20 years ago, both on and off stage.

Mr Briner’s work as secretary benefited greatly from his professional life as an international legal advisor.

In a statement, Ed Simons, who chairs the theatre’s trustees, and managing director Wendy Bowsher said: “His unfaltering commitment and dedication to see the Kenton succeed and grow resulted in successful projects, including the merging of the Kenton Society with the Kenton Theatre Management Society, the recent governance changes and the purchase of the freehold.
