Bridge opens

GORING’S new £2million passenger footbridge is now up and running.

GORING’S new £2million passenger footbridge is now up and running.

The structure, installed by Network Rail as part of the electrification of the Great Western main line, replaces the old iron bridge which was not tall enough to accommodate overhead cables.

It has three passenger lifts but these are not yet open to the public. They will come into service once a CCTV monitoring system has been installed and tested.

A date for the official opening is yet to be confirmed.

Once the work is finished, Great Western Railway plans to redecorate the station and provide new planters for the platforms.
