PLANS to demolish part of Woodcote Garden Centre to make way for nine houses have been amended by the applicant.
Michael Hill, who owns the business off Reading Road, is seeking planning permission to demolish greenhouses and other nursery buildings on a 2,426 sq m plot on the eastern half of the site.
These would be replaced by three detached, two semi-detached and four terraced homes while the garden centre would continue trading from smaller premises.
Mr Hill has changed the layout of the proposed development following comments by South Oxfordshire District Council’s design officers, who said the terraced dwellings should be moved so the gardens face south.
Woodcote Parish Council supported the proposal on the condition that he followed this advice. The district council has confirmed it is happy with Mr Hill’s alterations.
Oxfordshire County Council, the highways authority, maintains a holding objection until more information about parking and access is provided.
