Plan delay tactic denied

SOUTH Oxfordshire District Council says it is helping to progress Benson’s “fast-track” neighbourhood plan as quickly

SOUTH Oxfordshire District Council says it is helping to progress Benson’s “fast-track” neighbourhood plan as quickly as possible.

It was responding to claims by Jon Fowler, vice-chairman of Benson Parish Council, that he had struggled to get answers about the village’s allocation of new houses.

Cllr Fowler said he had received no response to a letter sent to the district council in June and his fellow councillor Michael Winton had written several times. A district council spokesman said: “We are working with the parish council and neighbourhood plan group to progress their plan as quickly as possible.

“Earlier this month we responded to the parish council regarding its concerns about housing allocation numbers and will be meeting with the steering group to talk through any issues.”

It had been hoped that the neighbourhood plan would be ready for scrutiny by October but the parish council has said that the timeline is being reviewed.
