Funding for new kitchen

A GRANT has been awarded to help pay for a new kitchen at Sonning Common village hall.

A GRANT has been awarded to help pay for a new kitchen at Sonning Common village hall.

South Oxfordshire District Council has given £7,697 to the parish council for the work and could rise to £9,418 if the hall’s management committee takes on the work, as this includes the VAT it would have to pay.

The total cost of the project is about £15,700, with about £8,000 coming from management committee funds.

The existing kitchen is said to be more than 20 years old and the management committee wants to replace it with a “modern, user-friendly” one.

It says the refurbishment wll benefit about 50 elderly residents who are members of the village lunch club.

There will also be a new dishwasher, large oven, microwave, boiling tap and improved storage.
