Support for new cottage

PARISH councillors have backed a family’s plans for a new cottage in Crazies Hill.

PARISH councillors have backed a family’s plans for a new cottage in Crazies Hill.

Mark Minns wants to knock down the existing property in Heath Gate Lane and use reclaimed materials to build a new home.

He told a meeting of Wargrave Parish Council that the new property would better suit his young family.

He said: “I live in the house with my wife and three young sons. What we are really trying to achieve is a cottage-style property.

“The main brief is if you drive past in a few years’ time you wouldn’t say ‘it’s a new house’. The view from the road is only through the gateway as there are very high hedges.

“We need to match the new house to the garage, which itself roughly matches the existing house.”

Chairman Richard Bush said: “It would fit in with the other buildings there, especially with reclaimed materials.”

Councillor Philip Davies said none of the neighbours had objected, adding: “It’s well sheltered from the road and I don’t think this is out of place at all.”
