No pay rise for big bands

A DECISION on whether to pay more to big bands that perform on the Mill Meadows

A DECISION on whether to pay more to big bands that perform on the Mill Meadows bandstand in Henley has been postponed.

The town council currently pays expenses of up to £250 for brass and jazz bands to play on Saturdays and Sundays in the summer.

Town clerk Janet Wheeler said that amount wasn’t always enough for larger bands to cover their costs and suggested paying more.

However, councillors didn’t make a decision after Councillor Kellie Hinton said: “Perhaps bands like school bands would accept lesser payments.”
