Village hall re-roofed

PEPPARD War Memorial Hall has re-opened after a £60,000 renovation of its roof.

PEPPARD War Memorial Hall has re-opened after a £60,000 renovation of its roof.

The hall on Gallowstree Road was closed for six weeks until Monday.

The original roof tiles were removed, new insulation put in and asbestos removed by specialist contractors.

South Oxfordshire District Council provided a £20,000 grant towards the work, the Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment group gave £7,000 and Peppard Parish Council £5,000.

Donations and hall funds paid for the rest.

Clive Mills, chairman of trustees for the hall, said: “It has been re-roofed and the ceiling inside has been insulated. Our programme of work ran over only a little bit.”

An official re-opening ceremony will take place in December.
