Dog foul warning

DOG owners have been warned not to let their dogs foul on the recreation ground in Benson.

DOG owners have been warned not to let their dogs foul on the recreation ground in Benson.

Parish clerk Pete Eldridge said the problem affected Benson United Football Club who play at the ground in Sunnyside and recently started a new season.

Mr Eldridge said: “Dog fouling on Sunnyside is a serious risk to children playing, especially those who participate in organised football.

“For the football club it wastes time as they have to clear the area before training and matches. It also less than impresses visiting teams.

“It should be noted by all dog owners that dog fouling is an offence which will incur a fixed penalty notice, issued by police community support officers of £80.

“Subsequent offences can attract fines of up to £1,000. Benson Parish Council will report any incidents of dog fouling that is observed with a view to offenders being fined. Dog owners should note that bagged dog waste can be placed in regular litter bins, except recycling bins.”
