A DEVELOPMENT site in Henley contains a pile of earth that needs reinforcing.
McCarthy & Stone, a retirement property specialist, has been granted planning permission for 53 “extra care” flats at the former Jet garage site in Reading Road.Â
Now the company has applied to build a retaining wall and sheet piling to help with stability of the 3m high earth bank to the southern boundary.
In a letter to the town council, it says: “The existing structure is not in the best state of repair and it is appropriate to ensure the stability of the land.”
The council agreed to support the application subject to comments from the Environment Agency.
