Contractors warn of Henley road closure

A BUSY Henley road is to be closed for resurfacing work later this month.

A BUSY Henley road is to be closed for resurfacing work later this month.

The work in Vicarage Road is expected to last three days, beginning on October 26.

It will be carried out in two phases in a bid to minimise disruption.

Contractors will work on the section between St Andrews Road and St Mark’s Road on October 26 and 27 and the section between St Mark’s Road and Hamilton Avenue on October 27 and 28.

Vicarage Road will need to be clear for the duration of the work, so drivers will need to find alternative parking. Any cars found to be causing an obstruction will be removed.

The one-way traffic order on Singers Lane will be suspended for the duration of the work to allow residents of Singers Lane and Singers Close to access their homes.

Andrew Madigan, principal engineer at Oxfordshire County Council highways, said: “Although the works will result in disruption, they are essential to resurface and strengthen the carriageway and should mean that no major road reconstruction will be required on this stretch for many years to come.”
