Change in plan for housing

THE developer of land it bought from Sonning Common Parish Council wants to change plans for

THE developer of land it bought from Sonning Common Parish Council wants to change plans for the site.

The council sold the 0.18-hectare parcel of land on the corner of Wood Lane and Brinds Close to Greenfield Engineering Group, of Maidenhead, for almost £500,000.

It had obtained outline planning permission for two three-bedroom homes on the land, which is known as Brinds Copse.

Now the company wants to make the proposed houses slightly bigger and reconfigure the development to bring the properties into the building line of the rest of the street.

A design and access statement by Boddingtons Planning, of Watlington, says the new application is the same in terms of access, scale and layout.

But it adds: “The houses are slightly larger than originally approved. They also conform to the building line of the existing houses in the street.”

It also proposes new trees at the front and back of the site to compensate for the removal of a beech tree with a protection order which has already been agreed.

The parish council supports the amended plans.

It has said it will use the money from the sale of the land on projects to benefit the village.
