Residents clean up

ELEVEN volunteers picked up 20 bags of rubbish following a sweep of Woodcote.

The team, led by parish councillor Andy Crockett, targeted Reading Road, Oxford Road, Goring Road, Whitehouse Road, Greenmore, Tidmore Lane, Shirvells Hill, Pot Kiln Lane, Bridle Path and part of South Stoke Road.

They were taking part in the Great British Spring Clean initiative organised by Keep Britain Tidy.

Councillor Crockett said: “It was great to see so many residents out on a cold and windy day.

“Most of the rubbish appeared to have been discarded from passing cars as it was mainly packages from fast food outlets that aren’t available in our lovely village.

“It’s a shame people can’t just take it home.”
