Villagers attack developer over plans for 177 homes
RESIDENTS of Benson have criticised a developer’s attempt to avoid carrying out an environmental impact survey.
Graeme Dodd wants to build 125 new houses, 42 retirement flats and 10 retirement bungalows on land north of Littleworth Road.
The development would have 40 per cent affordable housing and Mr Dodd says it would fulfil the village’s “wish list” with space for a skate park, primary school, nature park, forest trail, burial ground, allotments and three full-sized football pitches.
But his architects West Waddy have asked South Oxfordshire District Council for permission not to carry out the survey, which would normally be required as the development covers more than five hectares.
West Waddy says that as this would be an “urban development project” it is unlikely to have a significant effect on the environment.
