DAVID SILVESTER was the hot topic on social media at the weekend.
His name was trending on Twitter on Saturday, with celebrities joining the debate, and photographs of his letter to the Henley Standard were shared online.
A campaign was set up on Facebook to get the Weather Girls’ Eighties hit It’s Raining Men to the top of the charts.
Actor Stephen Fry told his 6.5 million Twitter followers that Cllr Silvester was a “looney-tunes UKIP councillor”.
A mock Twitter page called @UkipWeather attracted 110,000 followers — more than the party’s official page. A Wikipedia page was also set up for Cllr Silvester.
