Boundary changes ‘don’t go far enough’

SONNING Common councillors have rejected proposed changes to the parish boundaries, saying they don’t go far enough.

South Oxfordshire District Council has suggested moving 160 homes from Peppard into Sonning Common, which has angered residents and councillors in the neighbouring parish.

Sonning Common Parish Council had asked for an even larger area to be moved and remains determined to claim more land.

Chairman Douglas Kedge said the proposals met the guidelines which stated that natural or man-made boundaries should clearly define one community from another.

He said: “I understand the human nature behind the objections but they have nothing to do with the criteria.”
