Delivery delayed

THE delivery of a hanging basket pole to replace one damaged by lorries has been delayed.

A mix-up with the order made by Henley Town Council meant the pole didn’t arrive as expected.

Nicci Taylor, senior committee advisor, said: “They have sent me the basket minus the pole. The poles are handmade so it will take another six to eight weeks.”

The original pole, which was outside Boots in Bell Street, was removed last year for health and safety reasons after being damaged on at least seven occasions since 2005 by lorries lowering tailgates when making deliveries.

Repairs have cost more than £7,000, although this has been covered by the council’s insurance policy.
