A PORTRAIT of the Queen has been offered for sale to Henley Town Council — and turned down.
Geoff Walsh bought the painting for £10,000 at a charity fund-raiser but says it is too big to be hung on a wall of his house.
The picture is one of only five copies of the painting by Christian Furr, 47, who became the youngest artist to officially paint the Queen in 1995.
The original is now on permanent display at the Royal Overseas League headquarters in London and is viewable by the public.
Mr Walsh, of Wyndale Close, Henley, bought the 38in x 28in oil painting in December 2012 as an “investment”.It has an antique gold leaf frame.
