Villagers angry at plan to turn their local into house

RESIDENTS are fighting a businessman’s bid to turn a disused pub into a house.

Satwinder Sandhu has been ordered to apply for planning permission after carrying out unauthorised conversion work at the former White Lion in Crays Pond.

He tore down the pub signs and shutters, cut down the foliage at the front of the building and removed the kitchen and interior fittings.

South Oxfordshire District Council has warned him he faces enforcement action if his application is refused.

Mr Sandhu, from Huddersfield, bought the pub from the Greene King brewery in October and has asked for permission to use the building as a house for himself and his family.
