A SAFETY measure nicknamed the “yellow brick road” by children has delighted parents in Benson.
The footpath has been installed along a section of Brook Street after years of complaints from residents that one stretch of the road was not safe to walk along because there was no pavement.
The work was carried out by Oxfordshire County Council and cost Benson Parish Council £7,000.
The yellow path is at the same level as the road in order to encourage drivers to drive around it. The road markings at the edge of the road have been moved to go around it.
Katharine Martin, of London Road, Benson, said: “I think it is great. People know it works as a pavement and it looks nicer.”
