Residents face delay over sign decision

PEOPLE living on one edge of Watlington parish will have to wait to see whether the area will be given its own identity.

Residents on the Howe Hill stretch of the B481 two miles outside the town have campaigned for name signs to be put up alongside the speed limit signs which were installed last year.

However, after consulting the Chilterns Conservation Board, Watlington Parish Council recommended the signs be erected at the Cookley Green end of the road and at the northern end of the houses before Howe Wood.

Now councillors have decided they need to discuss the issue further. Councillor Roddy Orr said: “We are getting different opinions, both of which we respect. We need to give more thought to how it is done and how the money is spent.”

Councillor Robert Barber said: “We have had a lot of letters from people. I have found some more data since which makes clear the status of Howe Hill.
