Fitness instructors ‘misusing’ public land

FITNESS instructors and personal trainers have been accused of misusing public land in Henley.

Some have been spotted attaching resistance and stretching equipment to the underside of the bandstand roof in Mill Meadows.

Others are believed to hold paid-for fitness classes in Mill Meadows as well as Marsh Meadows, Makins Recreation Ground and Freemans Meadow.

Despite this, the council has decided not to introduce a licensing system because it would be too difficult to enforce and will instead monitor the situation.

Town clerk Mike Kennedy suggested issuing an annual licence and making checks on the instructors’ backgrounds, including whether they have public liability insurance.
