School places allocated

ALMOST 91 per cent of Oxfordshire children due to start secondary school in September have been offered a place at their first preference school, the county council announced this week.

This was a smaller proportion than last year (92.76 per cent) but the council received 6,207 applications compared with 5,870 and the number of children receiving first- preference offers rose from 5,445 to 5,634.

In total, 97.84 per cent of children have been offered a place at one of their three preferred schools.
