Victory for Mayor’s rubbish campaign

BUSINESS waste in Henley will be collected in the evenings following a campaign by Mayor Stefan Gawrysiak.

Contractors Biffa and Grundon have both agreed to switch from early morning collections following a series of meetings with the Mayor and Councillor Pam Phillips.

Both companies will now collect at 5pm on weekdays with Biffa picking up waste for both companies at the same time on Saturdays. Grundon will continue to collect wheelie bins at 6.30am.

Councillor Gawrysiak said: “It’s great news for the night-time economy in Henley - the pubs, restaurants, theatre and hotels. It was a mess walking past rubbish from 6pm to 6am but that will no longer happen.

“Biffa and Grundon were initially concerned about traffic in the evenings but we found them both to be superb and co-operative. They were very positive and really wanted to come up with a solution.
