Coffee shop appeals over ban on outdoor seating

A COFFEE shop has lodged an appeal after being denied permission for outdoor seating for customers.

Costa wanted two tables and six chairs on the pavement in Duke Street, Henley, but South Oxfordshire District Council said this would reduce the pavement to an “unacceptable” width.

The company was also warned about having the seating in place without consent.

Now Costa’s consultant Walsingham Planning has appealed to a planning inspector against the council’s refusal.

It says: “The proposed outdoor seating would support an existing local business which provides a popular service to local people, employees and visitors alike.
