Concern over loss of village’s older houses

CONCERN has been raised that Benson could lose its historical identity.

Parish councillor Pat Peers says that older houses are being sold and replaced with new, larger properties.

“We want them to stay as they are and not have new buildings in their place,” she said.

Cllr Peers cited the case of a three-bedroom house in Oxford Road where an application has been submitted to South Oxfordshire District Council to demolish it and replace it with a five- bedroom property.

She added: “It’s an old house but unfortunately it’s not listed.”
