Residents call for action as floodwater stays put

A CALL has been made for a multi-agency meeting to tackle the problem of floodwater in a Watlington street.

The Goggs is still affected by last month’s heavy rain.

A meeting of Watlington Parish Council heard that representatives of Oxfordshire County Council, South Oxfordshire District Council, the Environment Agency and Thames Water should meet on site.

Councillor Tony Williamson said: “In The Goggs we have had a river running where it’s narrow for about five weeks now. Further down there’s a large pond. You can’t walk round it, you have to go through it. This is becoming extremely inconvenient.”

He said everybody seemed to be aware of flooding in Brook Street but not of the problem in The Goggs.
