Permission refused to develop old farm site

PLANS for six new homes at Churchfield Farm in Benson have been rejected.

Castlehouse Developments wanted to build two houses with two bedrooms, two with four and two with five.

South Oxfordshire District Council’s planning committee refused planning permission after objections by Benson Parish Council and neighbours who said it would be overdevelopment of the site.

Critics also claimed access to the former agricultural site from Oxford Road was dangerous and hadn’t been used for 20 years.

Parish council chairman Jon Fowler said the volume of traffic had increased significantly since 1994, when there wasn’t a primary school opposite the development.
