Couple rapped over conversion of 16th century listed building

THE owners of a Henley shop have been ordered to apply for planning permission after unlawfully gutting the historic premises.

Norman and Jennifer Anthony claim they were not told the timber-framed building in Hart Street was Grade II* listed when they bought it.

The 16th-century premises, which include a first floor flat, were occupied by shoe shop Venue until that closed late last year.

The Anthonys, from Hazlemere, wanted to create a separate entrance to the flat as it was only accessible from the shop and then re-let it.

In December, they built a new staircase by the entrance and a wall to divide this from the shop floor.
