Double boost for skate park

PLANS for a skate park in Sonning Common have moved a step closer thanks to £75,000 cash boost.

A total of £60,000 has been awarded to the village’s skate park committee by Lafarge Tarmac’s landfill communities fund.

Some of the money will go towards improving the play area in Baskerville Road.

Another £15,000 has been given by South Oxfordshire District Council from its community investment fund. Mike Pendock, estates manager for Lafarge Tarmac, said: “I’m very happy that we’re able to support the community in getting the new skate park up and running and improving the existing local play facilities.

“I look forward to seeing the finished project, which will be a great amenity for young people in the area.”
