HOMEOWNERS in Howe Hill, near Watlington, are nearing success in their fight to give the road an “identity”.
Peter Richardson, who lives on that stretch of the B480, launched the campaign because he feared the area could miss out on infrastructure improvements as it is more than two miles from Watlington and is not officially recognised like places such as Park Corner and Greenfield.
He carried out a survey of the 20-plus residents which showed they supported his call for the area between the 40mph signs to be designated as “Howe Hill” and for signs to be erected.
Now he has won the support of Watlington Parish Council and only needs the agreement of Oxfordshire County Council, the highways authority.
Mr Richardson said: “It started with the 40mph speed limit, which was introduced about this time last year.
