Third of parking fines not collected

MORE than a third of penalty tickets issued at a Henley car park since February last year have not been paid.

Henley Town Council says it is still owed £2,740 in excess charges from its pay and display car park at Mill Meadows.

Motorists must buy a ticket to park between 9am and 7pm on any day of the week except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

This costs between £1.30 and £7 during the week, £1.50 to £8 at weekends and up to £15 during Henley Royal Regatta.

Those caught without a ticket are fined up to £70 with a 50 per cent discount for early payment.
