MEMBERS of Henley Lions Club are set to organise special parking during this year’s royal regatta.
Robin Swift, the club’s treasurer, has asked the town council if it can make use of the verges on Fair Mile from Wednesday, July 2 to Saturday, July 5.
The signs, stakes and tape will be funded by the Lions. Charges will be £10 per car all day. Last year, more than £2,000 was raised for local charities.
Members of the club will man the area from 9am to 5pm each day and supervise the parking. No overnight parking or camping will be allowed.
Mr Swift said: “The possibility of bad weather/wet ground surface will be reviewed with the town council parks services and, if judged necessary, the car parking will be cancelled to avoid damage to the verge.”
