Library staff deal

A PARTNERSHIP agreement over the future staffing of Watlington Library will be discussed at a meeting next week.

The Friends of Watlington Library group is negotiating with Oxfordshire County Council over the use of volunteers to help staff the High Street library from April 1 next year.

It follows the council’s decision in 2011 to reduce staff funding at the library by 50 per cent as part of its budget cuts.

A draft agreement is expected to be presented at the group’s annual meeting at Watlington town hall next Friday at 7.30pm.
